Mula-mula nak citer pasal website Looklet, website yang Anis guna untuk buat pic kat bawah ni. I'm loving this website so much. Before I just imagine a style in my head..but now I can see it for real and know rite away does the style works or not..

So for my first style is Jumpsuits.

Or some call it Romper.

I just bought a jumpsuits from The Poplook. And I was thinking how to wear it to the office and also make it hijab-friendly. For this style I just put on a blazer. For hijabi, just put on a color-complementing scarf.

My style tips:
♥ roll-up the blazer sleeves for casual look
♥ match the color of the belt with the shoe

Banana Cake

Two cake recipes in a row!! Apa gaknye yang sebabkan mood Anis baik sangat ni ye.. Tiap-tiap minggu buat kek.. Apa atau sape? uhuhu..ok cukup cukup..

Ni lagi satu kek favorite kitorang adik beradik.. kawan-kawan cuba la ye..

For cake batter
3 cups flour
3 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups castor sugar
1 1/2 cups bananas, mashed
1 1/2 cups cooking oil
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
A pinch of salt

Sift flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt together. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add sugar and egg yolks and beat again. Add bananas, oil, vanilla and mixed well. Fold in sifted flour. Pour in greased baking tin. Bake in 180 degC preheated oven for 45 minutes or until cook.

Resepi turun temurun dari beloved Mama

Anis ni ada satu perangai yang bila mood tengah over-the-top, baru la datang semangat nak buat kek. Weekend aritu Anis buat kek coklat. Resepi kek ni dapat dari Mama. Dia kek biasa je bukan la coklat moist tapi Anis adik beradik membesar dengan kek ni la dulu.. so pada kitorang kek ni la kek coklat yang paling sedap..

Kawan-kawan UTM ramai cakap sedap..tak tau la diorang saje amik hati or memang betul sedap..

Pada kengkawan yang rindu kan kek coklat Puan Zabidah..boleh la amik resepi ni and buat sendiri kat rumah..cewahhh

For chocolate sauce
1 cup cocoa powder
¾ cup hot water
½ cup sugar

Combine everything. Set aside and let cool to room temperature.

For cake batter
1 ½ cup self-rising flour, sifted
250 g butter
250 g castor sugar
6 large eggs, separated
1 tsp vanilla essence

Beat butter and castor sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time. Set aside.
Beat egg whites until stiff. Add to butter mix and fold.
Fold in flour and chocolate sauce alternately and mixed well. Add vanilla essence.
Pour in greased cake tin. Baked at 180 deg C for 45 mins or until cook.

Since mood tengah super duper good, Anis decide la nak buat buttercream frosting. Tak ingat resepi dari mana. Sebenarnye kek ni lebih sedap kalau dengan chocolate ganache. Tapi sebab takde chocolate bar and heavy cream time tu Anis buat la buttercream je..

For frosting
150 g butter
250 g icing sugar
2 tsp hot water
1 tsp vanilla essence

Combine everything until smooth. Add coloring as desired.

SPA TREATMENT AT DE RATU' SPA

Z: Anis, jom teman Z pegi mandi susu nak?

Anis: Mandi susu? Ko dah nak kawen boleh la pegi mandi susu.. Anis kawen pun belum tentu nak watpe mandi susu?

Z: Alaa..boleh je.. Mandi susu tu bukan untuk orang nak kawen je.. Tak pun Anis pegi mandi bunga.. boleh naik seri..

Anis: Hurmmm..orait gak tu..

So weekend lepas kitorang pegi la memanjakan diri kat De Ratu’ Spa, Shah Alam.

Kenapa pilih spa ni? Sebab pakej dia agak murah compare dengan spa-spa lain. Kami ni spa virgin so pilih la yang termampu dulu.

Kitorang signup pakej istimewa De Ratu’.. dalam pakej tu ada sauna herba + lulur + mandi susu/bunga + facial.. and percuma foot steam.. harga pakej hanya RM140..

First treatment: Foot Steam

Rendam kaki dalam air suam yang dicampur dengan garam laut khas selama 15 minit. Tujuannye untuk matikan kuman kot.. akak tu cakap kalau kaki kita sakit masa rendam tu menandakan tahap kolesterol kita tinggi.. nasib baik kaki Anis tak sakit.. meaning my cholesterol level is normal.. yeay!!

Second treatment: Sauna Herba

Kena duduk dalam sauna tent selama 20 minit. Memang boleh kurus kalau selalu buat sauna ni.. berpeluh tak hengat.. Kebaikan sauna herba ni adalah untuk mencantikkan kulit..

Third treatment: Lulur

Treatment ni yang paling Anis suka.. seluruh badan akan dilulur (meaning scrub) dengan sejenis scrub yang dibuat sendiri oleh owner spa daripada beras dan susu.. sambil lulur sambil massage so memang best sangat..
Kenapa Anis suka sebab lepas buat treatment ni Anis notice kulit jadi licin dan lebih cerah..

Fourth treatment: Mandi Bunga

Apa yang menarik mandi kat spa ni ialah dia gunakan mesin spa ultrasonic.. Nak tau lebih lanjut pasal mandian ultrasonic sila baca di sini.
Anis amik mandi bunga.. so air dalam tub tu dimasukkan bunga dan potongan limau purut.. rendam dalam tu selama 15 minit.. sampai ke rambut bau limau purut.. rasa fresh je..

Fifth treatment: Facial

Facial kat sini sangat memuaskan.. sungguh-sungguh akak tu belek muka Anis sampai betul-betul habis semua blackhead..

Semua treatment ni amik masa dalam 3 jam lebih.. kalau boleh make yourself free the whole day kalau nak pegi spa.. jangan rushing nanti baik-baik nak relaks makin stress pulak..

Ada couple of things je Anis nak komen pasal spa ni.. kalau boleh tolong provide fresh towel lepas customer shower lepas lulur tu.. and selimut during facial sebab agak sejuk bila kaki terdedah..

Everything else sangat memuaskan and Anis recommend pada sesape yang nak try De Ratu' Spa..

So keje harian oil & gas consultant adalah untuk menghasilkan benda alah kat bawah ni..

Kejenye boleh dikatakan mencabar dan memerlukan daya tahan yang kuat.. expect long hours and working on weekends.. but every hour spent you will get paid.. meaning kalau kerja overtime company akan bayar ikut rate gaji kita.. unlike some company yang tak bayar tapi expect staf dia untuk kerja lebih masa.. kira berbaloi la..

So to young engineers or soon-to-be engineers.. do try your luck in oil & gas industry.. insyaAllah you'll have a bright future..

My Dream Home: The Search

Salah satu target orang yang dah bekerja ni semestinya memiliki rumah sendiri. Bila diri rasa dah mampu nak beli rumah idaman, mula la surfing laman web property atau pegi survey mana-mana rumah contoh. Rumah pun ada macam-macam jenis - banglo, super-link, kondo, apartmen - dengan macam-macam price tag - dari 100k sampai berjuta-juta hengget - tinggal pilih je yang mana berkenan di hati atau wallet atau hati.. sukati la..

Finally after 6 years working baru Anis rasa mampu untuk beli rumah sendiri - meaning 100% duit sendiri, takde buat loan Pa.Ma ye.. tapi buat loan bank la.. kalau nak beli cash sampai jadi nenek kebayan bongkok dua belas pun belum tentu boleh beli..

Misi pencarian rumah idaman bermula. In my case, kondo idaman.

Before that being the organised-perfectionist person I am *cough perasan cough* I prepared a checklist to bring along during my visits to all the units. Bukan apa kalau dah plan nak tengok lebih dari 3 buah unit, wajib lah ada checklist.. kalau tak camne nak ingat unit mana yang bagi aircond, unit mana yang ada 2 covered carpark, unit mana yang maintenance fee rendah.. bla bla bla..

Mula-mula set kan location mana yang Anis minat - dalam lingkungan 5km dari Melawati - because location is important. Anis suka area yang green and serene. And of course easy access to the city.

UNIT NO. 1 - Villa Wangsamas, Wangsa Maju
Pros:
- comes with kitchen cabinet, aircond and water heater
- dekat dengan ofis, 10 mins to KL city centre
Cons:
- very high density

UNIT NO. 2 - 3 Residen, Melawati
Pros:
- love its open kitchen concept
- nestled amid greenery area at the foothill of Bukit Tabur
- development of a renowned developer, Sime Darby Properties
Cons:
- high price tag for small size

UNIT NO. 3 - Platinum Hill PV8, Setapak
Pros:
- nice view of KLCC and Bukit Tabur from the balcony
- spacious size
Cons:
- not in favor with the floor layout

UNIT NO. 4 - Selayang Springs, Selayang
Pros:
- attractive price with free renovation package
- like the floor layout with open kitchen concept
- green and serene
Cons:
- quite far from the city, 15 mins from KL city centre

Actually ada a few lagi unit yang Anis tengok tapi 4 unit kat atas ni yang dah Anis shortlist kan.

After a few thoughts and discussion, Anis decide untuk beli unit Selayang Springs. Sebenarnya suka 3 Residen tapi mahal sangat.. Selayang Springs ni ada surrounding macam 3 Residen and the open kitchen tapi lebih murah.. terus grab je la.

Recap 2010.

1. Finish up jewelry order - DONE!
2. Jewelry making class - still in the folder under 'Another Idea' collecting dust..
3. Get engaged - FAILED!
4. Career advancement - left Aker and joined MMC
5. Umrah - tak sempat tahun ni.. insyaAllah tahun depan
6. Socialize more - banyak gi melalak kat karaoke je.. sejak Wangsa Walk buka tahun ni

So what's for 2011.. Can I not make any resolution this year? Nway I've done a long term to-do list - right-side of the blog - already..

One thing I'm sure of is that I'm going to swarm myself with work and not think about love, relationship and marriage..

OMG!

Korang sedar tak dah penghujung 2010. Pantasnya masa berlalu, lebih pantas dari Shinkansen kat Jepun - nak tau apa tu Shinkansen, pegi sini - tetiba je dah nak masuk 2011.

Macam biasa, masa ni la nak review balik azam yang dibuat awal tahun dan buat azam baru. Tak pun recycle azam lama. Huhu..

Tapi sebelum tu Anis tukar layout dulu la. Tema untuk tahun 2011, SIMPLE.

Apa ye azam untuk 2011? Hurmmm..

Long post after a long hiatus

Lama betul rasanye tak mem'blog' hal sendiri.. dah la hari tu hutang a few post.. lepas tu terus senyap.. hehe

Ok ok.. so hari ni kira nak bayar hutang-hutang post yang mana terlarat la ye..

Sebelum tu nak cerita sket pasal tragedi yang telah menimpa keluarga Anis masa Aidilfitri yang lepas..

Abah, atuk Anis yang amat dikasihi, telah kembali ke Rahmatullah pada pagi raya ke-11, 20 Sep 2010. Pada hari Ahad, 5 hari sebelum raya, sedang Abah berjalan ke surau untuk menunaikan solat isyak, dia telah terlibat dalam kemalangan dengan sebuah motosikal.. Abah mengalami kecederaan pada kaki & tulang belakang dan pendarahan dalam kepala dan dimasukkan ke wad ICU kerana tak sedarkan diri..

Selepas 2 hari, Abah sedar tapi masih lemah & tak boleh bercakap.. lepas tu tahap kesedarannya semakin menurun dan takde apa yang boleh kami buat kecuali bisikkan kata-kata semangat, doa & tawakal. Hari raya pun Anis & family di hospital menunggu Abah.. cuma 2 hari pertama je pegi beraya dengan adik-adik ke rumah saudara-mara yang dekat untuk sampaikan berita.. Raya ke-5 Anis terpaksa balik KL sebab dah start kerja.. setiap hari call Mama tanyakan keadaan Abah.. Mama cuma cakap takde perubahan lagi..

Pagi raya ke-11, waktu Anis on the way ke ofis dapat call dari aunty kata Abah dah meninggal.. pastu patah balik rumah, cepat-cepat kemas and terus balik kampung dengan adik-adik.. Nasib baik sempat sampai sebelum jenazah dikebumikan.. so sempat la tengok muka Abah for the last time.. Sebelum Abah meninggal Anis cuma sempat berbisik kat telinga dia meminta maaf segala salah & silap.. harap-harap Abah dengar..

Macam tu rupanya camne Allah nak tarik balik nikmat yang Dia bagi kat kita.. sekelip mata je.. Anis doakan arwah ditempatkan bersama orang-orang yang beriman.. InsyaAllah..

Ok dah takmo sedih-sedih.. life must go on rite..

Ni nak citer plak pasal job interviews yang Anis mention a few months back.. ada 4 interview yang Anis pegi and dari 4 tu Anis dapat 2 job offer plus counter offer dari Aker lepas Anis tender resign.. lepas difikirkan pros & cons Anis decide untuk terima offer dari MMC O&G.. so 1 Okt lepas Anis dah start keje kat ofis baru.. ofisnye kat Menara Promenade, Jalan Tun Razak.. belakang Ampang Park..

Genap tiga bulan...

..Anis menyepikan diri dari dunia maya ni atas alasan terlalu sibuk dengan dunia nyata.. hahaha..

Seriously dah dua bulan Anis blk keje kul 8 mlm setiap hari n keje hari sabtu.. so ahad je utk releks n lepak kt rmh doing nothing..

Anyway Anis nk citer sket wats been going on in my life for the past 3 months.. not like anyone care kot.. hehe.. tp nk citer gak..

Bulan Jun lps Anis sibuk dgn urusan family day company A.ker So.lu.tions which took place on early July.. kitorg buat kt Cherating n Anis kena incharge on transportation n event's tshirt.. bukan satu keje yg mudah..

Early July is AEM Family Day.. I will post about it later..

After family day baru blh 100% concentrate pd keje.. and sempat pegi a couple of job interviews.. hehe.. itupun Anis akan citer later of the outcome..

End of July company announce bonus n salary increment.. uninspiring.. puas hati dgn bonus tp sgt disappointed dgn increment.. I worked my ass off n thats how they repay me.. gerammmmmm

Finally this month Anis sibuk cari rmh utk dibeli.. sbb nk move out frm my current house by early next year.. Anis akan citer about this dlm post yg lain..

How I celebrate Earth Day 2010

Earth Day falls on April 22nd every year.

And for the first time I volunteered as a committee member for my company, Aker Solutions, to organize an event in conjunction with Earth Day 2010 at Tasputra PERKIM, Jalan Ampang Hilir 5, KL, as part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility. Tasputra is a day-care centre for handicapped children.

This event has been covered by the local newspapers, The Star, Berita Harian and NST.

"The special children of Tasputra PERKIM can now undergo outdoor therapy in a whole new environment at the centre's newly-created herb garden. The garden was jointly sponsored and created by Aker Solutions and Terra Garden in conjunction with the Earth Day celebration. It consists of herbal plants that are used for therapeutic treatment." - The Star, 27 April 2010

Apa itu "wristlet"?

Ada orang tanya Anis apa tu "wristlet".. haaa.. inilah dia bendanya..

Ia adalah sejenis wallet yang ada tali dan boleh sangkut kat pergelangan tangan.. sebab tu panggil wristlet.. tapi ruangnya lebih luas dari wallet.. siap boleh letak handphone lagi..

Kenapa Anis nak beli nih.. sebab senang nak masuk duit, segala jenis kad, resit-resit dan yang penting sekali my Blackberry.. cehhh.. so senang la nak pegi lunch just pegang satu beg je.. hahaha.. alasan untuk nak perabis duit je sebenarnya.. shhh..

Just wanna share a few info about thyroid disease and my personal experience as someone who has been diagnosed with thyroid disease for almost 12 years..

Sebenarnya ramai yang tak familiar dengan penyakit nih.. sebab ia tak lah sekronik kanser atau diabetes.. tapi kalau tak dirawat boleh mendatangkan komplikasi lain..

Apa itu tiroid?
Tiroid adalah kelenjar yang berfungsi mengeluarkan hormon tiroid untuk mengawal metabolisma manusia.

Apa itu penyakit tiroid?
Ada 2 jenis penyakit tiroid; hipertiroidisme dan hipotiroidisme.
Hipertiroidisme berlaku apabila kelenjar tiroid mengeluarkan hormon yang berlebihan dan sebaliknya bagi hipotiroidisme.

Tanda-tanda orang yang menghidap hipertiroidisme:
- Bengkak di leher
- Degupan jantung bertambah
- Haid tidak teratur
- Berat badan menurun
- Osteoporosis
- Pengeluaran peluh bertambah

Tanda-tanda orang yang menghidap hipotiroidisme:
- Lemah
- Murung
- Osteoporosis
- Berat badan meningkat
- Kulit kering dan gatal
- Kurang daya ingatan

Rawatan untuk hipertiroidisme:
- Ubatan; carbimazole dan propylthiouracil untuk mengawal penghasilan hormon
- Pembedahan mengeluarkan sebahagian atau keseluruhan kelenjar tiroid

Rawatan untuk hipotiroidisme:
- Ubatan; levothyroxine untuk menambah hormon tiroid yang perlu dimakan setiap hari seumur hidup

Pengalaman Anis pulak.. masa sekolah menengah Anis kena hipertiroid.. leher Anis bengkak, tapak tangan kerap berpeluh dan terketar-ketar and berat badan tak naik-naik walaupun kuat makan.. lepas SPM Anis buat operation untuk buang keseluruhan kelenjar tiroid.. sejak daripada tu Anis menghidap hipotiroid dan kena makan ubat sebab dah takde kelenjar tiroid untuk menghasilkan hormon.. mengikut doktor Anis kena makan ubat ni seumur hidup and buat blood test setiap 3 bulan untuk monitor level hormon tiroid dalam badan.. and kalau tak makan ubat Anis akan mudah penat dan kalau Anis tak jaga makan berat badan akan naik mendadak..

Walaupun tak rasa sakit tapi penyakit ni still kena rawat sebab kalau tak ia boleh menyebabkan obesiti, sakit sendi, masalah kesuburan dan komplikasi kepada jantung..

So Anis nasihatkan pada sesiapa yang ada tanda-tanda seperti kat atas tu cepat-cepat la pegi check doktor ek..

Saya kehilangan 350ml darah

Jangan panik..bukan Anis accident ke apa. Sebenarnya nak citer pasal derma darah.. just nak share pengalaman Anis menderma darah pagi tadi. Ni bukan pertama kali Anis menderma.. pernah derma sekali 4 tahun lepas.

Anyway.. pagi tadi Anis sampai Pusat Darah Negara (PDN) dalam pukul 9.15am. Terkejut jugak bila nampak ada beberapa orang yang tengah tunggu giliran untuk menderma.. sebab ingatkan takde orang langsung. Because from personal experience.. bukan senang nak convince orang untuk menderma darah.

Selepas isi borang.. Anis disuruh untuk timbang berat badan.. sebab berat mesti melebihi 45kg.. pass. Then staff PDN akan test blood group dan level zat besi dalam darah.. pass and Anis disahkan sebagai penderma universal.. wuhu..

Next stage.. ambil tekanan darah dan interview pasal health history oleh staff PDN.. pass. Then proceed to bilik penderma darah.. biliknya macam wad hospital yang ada banyak katil. Since berat Anis kurang dari 50kg.. Anis cuma boleh derma 350ml darah je. Sesapa yang berat lebih 50kg.. akan derma 450ml.

Proses menderma hanya dalam 10 minit je.. pastu kena rehat 10 minit sebelum proceed ke kafe untuk diberi makanan dan minuman percuma.. tak tipu.. memang percuma. Diorang bagi nasi lemak, air panas secawan, biskut, buah dan 2 jenis ubat.. folic acid dan ferrous fumarate.

Sempena birthday Anis last month adik-adik nak belanja makan.. so Anis pilih la restoran ni sebab teringin lebanese food. Kitorg pergi hari sabtu lepas magrib.. customer tak ramai lagi tapi dalam kul 8.30pm customer semakin ramai n servis semakin lembab..

Since adik pernah makan kat sini so kitorg dah tau nak order apa. Start dengan appetizer, Fatoush, which is a salad and Grape Leaves, daun anggur stuffed with rice, tomatoes and mint. Untuk main dish kitorg share, Al-Rawsha Grilled n Shish Tawook, grilled lamb and chicken chunks with bread, fries n sour cream. Another favorite main dish here is Lamb Mandy, macam nasi briyani kambing. For drinks they have a wide selection of fruit juices using real fruits.. bukan kordial ek.. and also ada minuman tradisi, mint tea. Kat sini they serve in huge portion.. so sesape yang tak makan banyak dinasihatkan untuk share main dish.

Lepas sedaya upaya menghabiskan makanan, kitorg order dessert, Custard with Biscuits dan Basboossa.

Total bill was about RM95 for 3 people, which is quite good value for money. Food n drinks we ordered was really delicious.. kitorg sangat puas hati n will definitely come back.

I was listening to Fly.FM this morning on my way to work and the topic they were discussing about was 'Inappropriate Crush'.

Suddenly I remembered about my inappropriate crush with my teacher.. ooo..scandal habis..hehe..

It happened while I was in Standard 5 or 6.. I can't remember his name but it starts with Z.. could be Cikgu Zahari or Cikgu Zahidi.. he was a new teacher.. baru kluar maktab, MPMK kot..

One day my school received a group of new teachers.. two of them were good looking male teachers.. being an all-girl school.. mmg tersangat la happy kitorg semua dgn cikgu baru nih..

Apalagi sesiapa yg berminat mula la berbaik-baik dgn cikgu-cikgu nih.. first teacher, Cikgu A telah berjaya disambar oleh my classmate, Miss G.. jeles betul bcoz he's the cutest..

Anyway, Cikgu Z ni cikgu sukan.. so tetiba je Anis rajin stayback lps sekolah utk xtra curriculum activities.. lastly dpt jd adik angkat cikgu.. almost every nite call dia just tanya kabar.. tapi tak lama coz lps tu Cikgu Z kena pindah sekolah n dgr dia nk kawin.. then kitorg pun lost contact..

Hmmm.. apa citer Cikgu Z skrg ek..

Itu citer pasal my inappropriate crush.. ada lagi pasal certain uncle had an inappropriate crush on me.. oooppss.. xyah la citer kan.. tak baik.. ;)

Let's recap what were my plans for 2009.

travel to a new destination (probably Perth or Bali...hehe)

Hmmm.. let see what I have accomplished for the past 365 days.

better Muslim - still improving and its an ongoing process
charity works - I'm a registered organ donor; but still a lot can be done to help those in need
reach office before 9am - continue LOL.. (its the hardest resolution.. gimme a break)
travel - I've travelled to Perth with my mom & sis

Other highlights...
1. I've been entrusted as the Head of Social for my company's Sports & Social Club, so I was responsible to organize all of the social activities for the club.
2. Gained interest in jewelry making and even received a few orders from friends.

Not forgeting the lowlights...
1. All the breakups & makeups with my other half. Even after 3 years we're together, he still doesn't have the courage to "pop-the-question". (something to think about for my 2010's reso...)
2. An uninspiring salary increment.. only 2 percent.. WTF

2010 Resolutions:-
1. Finish up all backdated jewelry orders. (sorry to all customers.. ur patience is very much appreciated..)

Structural Dept Family Day 2009

Me and a few colleagues volunteered to organize the first ever Structural Dept family day. Well...it was actually an initiative from our secretary, Miss Anne, who did most of the big tasks, getting company's sponsor, making hotel reservation and sorts...thank you Anne :)

The day starts with a pinch of hope.

Then he calls at 12 noon to confirm and I start feeling nervous.

We prepare soto for iftar specially for him.

He finally arrives at 6 after 3 hours drive from Sg Rengit.

He seems nervous too.

We invite him in and they warmly greet and chat with him. I can hear laughter from where I stand in the kitchen.

The nervous feeling has gone.

Iftar is great. The food is delicious.

He stays until 10 for more chit chat. I can see that they warmed up to each other.

Then he makes a move for another 3 hours drive home.

The day ends with a bundle of joy and a big smile in my ♥.

Dah masuk hari ke-4 berpuasa. Pada Anis apa yang menarik dalam bulan Ramadhan ni selain memperbanyakkan amal ibadat, bertadarus, pegi solat terawih kat masjid, bersahur and berbuka dengan family or kengkawan is pegi bazar Ramadhan untuk beli juadah berbuka puasa.

Kalau kat sini Anis selalu pegi Bazar Ramadhan Taman Melawati. Kat bazar ni macam-macam food and drinks boleh dapat. Food yang paling popular kt bazar Taman Melawati ni is ikan bakar nelayan, popia basah Zaiton and tepung pelita.

If you happen to stop by this bazaar, you must try the foods that I mentioned. To find ikan bakar nelayan..senang je..just look for a long queue at the middle of the bazaar. Untuk popia basah..seller guna open-up truck instead of payung situated at the first row from the roadside. Famous tepung pelita plak Anis tak jumpa lagi. I will update this later..hehe. And jangan lupa pakai mask.

For the past 3 days, Anis dah beli kurma, taufa, air soya panas and lala goreng cili. Adik-adik plak beli nasi dagang and nasi kerabu.

Hmmm..daripada banyak-banyak ni apa yang paling popular ek. ~~Anis dah listkan a few foods yang selalu ada kat bazar Ramadhan (pls scroll down to end of page) for you to vote..just for fun :)~~

Overspent.

I went to Ariani yesterday. My initial plan was to buy ONE pink hijab for my baju raya. I got the pink one.

Then suddenly my hand had a life of its own...it started grabbing the green and the purple and the blue and the grey...

Oh nooo..it didn't stop there. Then comes a couple of the printed ones.

And in the end, I walked out of the store with SEVEN pieces of tudung in my hand...hee

But when I reached home, I realized I miss ONE more color for another pair of baju kurung...not again...hahaha

After reading cover-to-cover a few fashion magazines, hopping from one fashion blog to another and browsing thru a number of shops both online and offline, I've come up with a list of must-have items for this season. And most importantly all of these items are hijab-friendly.

1/ Long sleeves with elasticized cuff

There have been a few names for this one; balloon sleeves, poet sleeves, ruffled hem or elasticized cuff. By looking at the pic below, you’ll understand what I mean. This cuff already made an appearance sometime last year but only this year I saw more of it in stores and on the streets. Even our baju kurung has copied this trend and with a good tailoring it will turn out stunning. I plan to do one myself for this year’s baju raya.

2/ Kaftan

Who would have thought this piece of clothing that our moms wear to bed is actually a big hit on the runway. It appears at Gucci, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Naeem Khan, etc.

3/ Maxi skirts

With a good cut it can be really comfortable.

After a long hiatus in the jewelry making department, I managed to create these lovelies last week.

My colleague ordered this one for her 12 year-old daughter. Hope she likes it.

And this one used to be a necklace. Since I cannot wear a short necklace anymore (because of the hijab), so I transformed it into a bracelet.

I've bought a few other materials online last week...can't wait to receive it and start on a new project... :)

I guarantee you won't be disappointed with the coffee and toasted buns unlike what's at Kluang Station here in KL. This place use homemade kaya for their buns and it is soooo yummy...

Musical Theater Mahsuri 2009

My family and I watched this last Saturday. It was a full house. This musical was directed by Fauziah Nawi and starred by Vanidah Imran, Arja Lee and Azizah Mahzan to name a few.

What I was looking forward to see in the show were;
1. white blood, how will the director visualize it
2. stage prop
3. the singing

And what I got;
1. a burst of white confetti
2. good stage prop
3. bad singing

My reviews;
1. it was not really a theater but more like a sketch about a girl named Mahsuri due to lack of elaboration; it only runs for about one and a half hour
2. Deramang character was very vague
3. need improvement in sound and lighting department; there were a few blips
4. there should be subtitle (like what they did in PGL) if they want to reach out to viewers from other races both local and foreign; if I wasn't a Malay and knew about the Legend of Mahsuri I wouldn't understand what's so special about Mahsuri
5. good performance by Sabera Shaik as Mahura

Overall verdict...Disappointing full stop

I am addicted to Online Shopping

It all started 4 years ago when I got my own desk with a computer and internet access for free. Yes. It’s at my workplace. Guilty as charged. I used my company’s assets for my personal pleasure.

Anyway, I started my online shopping at Ebay. I’d bought second hand books, perfumes, hair straightening iron and a few other knick-knacks. I paid thru Paypal using my credit card. Most of the items were from UK and it was sent to my sister’s address during her stay there.

But ever since she was back in Malaysia, I stop shopping online because I don’t trust international shipping plus it’s very costly and I don’t find anything that of my interest in the local online market.

Then my addiction starts again when I came across Emmagem, a local website about fashion and lifestyle where they have an extensive directory of Malaysian owned online shopping sites/blogs they called MOFSD. Furthermore, there are a few sites/blogs that post reviews on these online shopping sites/blogs i.e. A Shopaholic’s Den, Diary of an E-Shopaholic, Shopping Roll, etc.

With an overwhelming growth of online blogshops nowadays, I am spoilt with choices. Coupled with online banking, it just made shopping online a whole lot easier and faster. Just a click away to owning that gorgeous maxi dress or that trendy sling bag or even an eyeshadow in the hottest color of the season. All these without even leaving the comfort of my home because everything will be delivered to my doorstep.

OMG!!!

Finally the king of all doughnuts has arrived at our shore. This is where you can get THE original glazed doughnuts.

They'll be opening their first store at Berjaya Times Square on 27th April 2009, 10 am. And the best part is there'll be prizes for the first 300 customers.

Hopefully I'll be one of the first 300...hmmm

Last Monday my sister and I attended annual art fest at Universiti Malaya. It's been quite a while since I watched a Malay traditional dance being performed live. The last time was during my uni days when I was one of the dancer. Ohh...how I love to dance especially zapin.

Anyway, I was there to watch my kid brother performs and I was quite shocked at how good he is. I'm so proud of him... :)

I really enjoyed all the performances and I felt great watching young people with passion towards Malay heritage and culture.

The fun in jewelry making

To those who are dear to me, they certainly well aware of my character. I'm the type who easily gets bored with something. Hence the reason I keep on looking for a new hobby.

First, it was baking. Then I get bored after I found out it's more fulfiling eating them rather than making them. That is why my interest is in food and not cooking...lol.

Then, it was selling stuff. Well I have always had interest in business. I guess it runs in the family. But now business is quite slow, probably due to the economic downturn. But I never give up hope. :)

And now, it is jewelry making. I LOVE jewelry. Who doesn't rite. It gives update to your outfit. You can easily jazz up a plain t-shirt and jeans combo with a chunky necklace. And I think people use jewelry to express their sense of style and personality.

Anyway, one day I stumbled upon 2 websites selling jewelry making supply online, Marina Craft and Beading.com.my. Then an idea hit me. I have been searching for brooches to wear with my hijab but I can't find something that i like. So, why not I make one myself.

After spending a sum amount of money buying guide book, tools, beads and findings, I was ready to make my own brooch and more.

My next project will be a bracelet for my mom and some stuff for my blogshop.

Adakah selepas Israel bersetuju dengan gencatan senjata, kita akan kembali semula membeli barangan mereka, membawa keluarga makan di McDonald's atau minum ice blended frappucino di Starbucks?

Anis kesal dengan sikap seorang rakan yang tanpa segan silu bercerita yang dia makan Prosperity Burger untuk dinner satu malam. Bila Anis ingatkan dia tentang saranan Tun M, dia memberi alasan, "Anak aku nak makan la, nak buat camne." Kenapa mesti salahkan kanak-kanak yang tidak tahu apa-apa atas ketidakprihatinan kita? Kalau kita boleh tolak permintaan anak yang inginkan sebuah kereta mainan, kenapa tidak untuk sekeping chicken nugget. Goreng la sendiri di rumah.

Sabtu lepas Anis dan keluarga berjalan-jalan di Hartamas. Kami lalu depan Starbucks dan ternampak seorang perempuan bertudung sedang minum disitu bersama rakan-rakannya. Mama sangat marah. Lebih-lebih lagi bila ada orang Islam yang makan di McD. Dia kata, "Cuba bayangkan daging yang diorang makan tu daging rakyat Palestin. Patut ada poster gambar burger McD tukar daging rakyat Palestin yang dah mati." Ngeri tapi Anis setuju.

Ahad lepas Anis ke klinik gigi. Semasa menunggu giliran, Anis terdengar seorang kanak-kanak lelaki yang merengek minta KFC dari ibunya. Sambil tersenyum ibunya menjawab, "Kita dah tak boleh makan KFC sekarang. Nanti kita pergi makan roti canai ye."

In the end, tepuk dada tanya ~~selera~~ hati.

Women and Cars

This is not an answer to, '2 things men love'.

This is an answer to, ' What makes a bad combination?'. It doesn't even sound as good as women & clothes or women & shopping. :)

This might get some feminist jump-off their seats after reading this. But I got to admit not many women are really good at taking care of their cars. And I confess, I'm one of them.

How many of you check your car's engine oil/radiator coolant in between service?

How many of you can roll-up your sleeves and change a flat tyre?

Let me tell you a few mishaps I got into with my car for the past 4 years of ownership.

Two years ago, the battery went dead because I never refill the battery water and I didn't know it's about time to change it anyway.

Last year, my car stopped and won't start in the middle of the road because it ran out of gas.

And most recently, in fact yesterday, I drove from home to office not knowing I got a flat tyre until I reached the office's car park. If only I noticed it earlier, it wouldn't have cost me MYR145 for one ruined tyre.

Honestly speaking, when talk about cars, I know little. Luckily I have Arif for advice. :)

How to make Banoffee Pie?

What is banoffee pie?

It is an English dessert made from BANANAS, cream and boiled condensed milk or TOFFEE, either on a pastry or crumbled biscuits and butter base.

First time I tried banoffee pie was at Delicious. It was divine. I always love anything with bananas. So instead of going to Delicious everytime I have banoffee-craving, I made them myself. But since I'm not good at making pastry, I made the one with crumbled biscuits base instead.

I found this easy recipe from Videojug but I made it with a slight alteration. I use 7 souffle cups instead of 1 9in spring-form.

: Ingredients :
400 g condensed milk
250 g Mcvitie's digestive biscuits - finely crushed
100 g butter - melted
250 ml fresh cream
Bananas
Dark chocolate

: How to make :

Insert the tin of condensed milk in a pot of boiling water for 3 hours. Remove tin and let it cool.

Mix biscuits with melted butter and stir well.

Press the biscuit mixture into the souffle cup and refrigerate for 15 mins.

Slice bananas and arrange them on top of the base. Make 2 layers of bananas.

Pour in the milk on top of the bananas and spread evenly. Refrigerate for 20 mins.

Whip cream until stiff and spread evenly on the pie. Refrigerate for 20 mins.

Grate chocolate on the pie and serve.

Thanks to "Untukmu Palestin (UP)", a program organized by Kolej Tun Syed Nasir, UKM, we have been given one of many platform to contribute and do our part. They have setup a few activities for public to participate and help them raise fund for Tabung Amal Palestin. Among them are charity run "Walk for Peace", paintball fest, peace concert "We Hear, We See", etc.

I've made plan with my SO Club to join the charity run next Saturday, 10th January at Astaka Tasik Titiwangsa, KL.

What have I accomplished in 2008?
I have travelled to Port Dickson, Sg Chiling and Bangkok. I have tried go-karting. I have bought my first Lomo camera. And last but not least, I have setup my second online business, Dressed by Embun. Alhamdulillah...

What are my plans for 2009?

be a better Muslim inside out
do charity works
reach the office before 9am...lol
travel to a new destination (probably Perth or Bali...hehe)

Where to eat in JB?

I'm a Johorian and proud of it. I lived in JB for 16 years before I moved to KL. What I love most about JB is the delicious local food such as mee bandung, mee rebus, satay, nasi lemak, soto, lontong, etc. So everytime I go back, I never fail to make a trip to my favorite eateries.

Last Christmas I went back to JB for 5 days and I had a lot of fun. My family and I went to two of our fav restaurants for breakfast and dinner.

1- Breakfast @ Kacang Pool Haji

Kacang pool is sort of gravy made of kacang parang (probably kidney beans in english...someone pls correct me), onions and some spices served with chopped onions and chillies, fried egg and thick toast.

Everyone should try this. They're so yummy. I still can't find it anywhere in KL. If anyone knows where I can find kacang pool in KL, do let me know =)

This place is famous for it's chicken chop. Awarded as "Best Chicken Chop in Town" by The Star on 2003 and until now it is still the best to me.

Color of 2009 - Purple

This is one idea of how I would wear purple next year. I love the rich dark purple of this dress and I like to combine purple with grey.

And these are more items in purple with prints that I love. Maxi dress is the "must have" item this year and I think it's still going to be hot in 2009.

Does color affects or reflects you?

It does to me. I use color to affect or reflect my daily mood. When I'm in a good mood, I'll wear something soft like blue, green, purple or pink. When I'm in a serious mood, I'll wear black or white. And when I'm in a bad mood and need a little pick-me-up, I'll wear something bright like orange, yellow or red.

As we approaching 2009, what would be the IN colors for next year?

According to the people from Color Marketing Group, look for these color trends in 2009:

1- Purple, Purple, Purple! - This is one of my fav color. Purple is 2009's "must have" color.

2- Blue is the new Green - In 2009 the "green" environmental message is delivered by the color blue. Water and sky are blue.

3- Cooled-down, Greyed-out Browns and Greys - I love neutral colors.

4- Yellow for energy - It's the stand-out accent color for 2009.

5- Bright accents from India, China and Turkey - Oranges, turquoises, teals, reds and yellows.

6- White is now a business color - White represents purity.

7- The return of Mauve - It's a lovely old color that looks new again.

So be ready to expect these hues in most of the designs in 2009.

Hmmm...maybe it's time for me to change the color of my bedroom walls from green to blue. What do you think?

Islam and organ donation

I'm not sure about others, but to me it's the simplest act of charity. And since Islam has no objection regarding organ donation, in fact, Islam encourage it, it's the more reason for us Muslim to do our part.

Some of us might ask, can a Muslim donate his/her organ to a non-Muslim? The answer is yes. Read this post by Dr. Mohd Asri (ex-Mufti Perlis).

My first roll is out

Yoga is haram in Islam

I know this is an old issue to be talked about. But the reason I post this is because a blog owner was really mad at me after I commented on his post.

I wrote this based on my opinion at that time:
"Why can't people take it as another form of exercise? Why must we complicate our minds? Is your faith that fragile?"

And he replied:
"Yoga and Reiki are not physical exercises, they're some kind of acts of worship. Please lay off your bloody fingers and stop meddling into the affairs of Muslims. We don't need your f*cking guidance on this matter."

Can you feel how mad he is towards me?

Then I simply reply like this:
"Sorry if I hurt you in any way. I wrote based on my opinion. How can we claim ourselves a Muslim when we go around swearing people and cannot take others advices and opinions?"

Yes, I may not be the best Muslim to guide others. Plus I'm still learning myself. But my opinion is my own. If you don't like it, there's nothing I can do about it. If I'm wrong, may Allah forgive me.

Anyway, regarding Yoga, after reading the report from JAKIM complete with verses from Al-Quran and hadith, I'm more clear about the issue. But I still don't see any harm in practising the movement merely for health benefits. In fact, I've practised it myself and find it more friendly to the condition of my body compare to aerobics and jogging.

And again all this is based on my opinion... :)

Alhamdulillah...

Allah telah panjangkan umur Anis untuk dapat menyambut Aidiladha sekali lagi dengan keluarga tahun ni. This year we celebrate at Kuantan, my mom's house. Unfortunately, Adek was not able to join because she will be having an IELTS exam on the day itself in KL.

Anyway, I wish you all a wonderful and meaningful Aidiladha this year.

And let's say prayer to all the landslide victims in Bukit Antarabangsa, may Allah bless them. Semoga ditingkatkan kesabaran dan iman mereka. Amin.

Familiar with the pics above? Who doesn't rite.

No matter how old we are, there's always a kid inside us. That's why we never stop playing games, be it PS2, PSP, X-box, etc. or desktop or laptop. And thanks to the people in the game industry whom never fail to come up with better & more addictive game each time.

For me, I love games from Yahoo. First game that got me hooked was Diner Dash. Then came Chocolatier. Latest addiction is Restaurant Rush. But of course they only give you trial pack for free. When you're done with it, either you purchase the full pack or buy pirated cd. Since I'm in Malaysia, I chose the latter. =)

To my existing and new readers (if only there are people following my blog...hehe),

This is my 2nd attempt on creating & managing a personal blog after my 1st attempt last 2 yrs using Fotopages, alhamdulillah.

That's why I call this Season 2 and hopefully it will attract more readers than Season 1 :)
